Mighty Tiger ( Ashton Moore )
President of ABC -The Mighty Tiger, born Ashton Sylvester Moore, President
of the Association of British Calypsonians and the undefeated Calypso
Monarch of Britain has won the title no less than nine times. He is also
the longest serving member of the Notting Hill Carnival Committee. Tiger,
who has been singing calypso for over forty-seven years, migrated to London
in 1971 from his country of birth Trinidad and Tobago . Tiger has toured
Britain with The Mighty Sparrow, and Paul Keens Douglas before getting
involved with Notting Hill Carnival. In 1976 he won the first Calypso
Monarch Competition in Hammersmith and is therefore the first recorded
Calypso Monarch of London . Tiger joined the Notting Hill Carnival Enterprise
Committee and the Notting Hill Carnival Trust, in 1991 in order to represent
calypsonians. As a Trinidadian, Tiger believes that it is his duty to
promote Carnival and Calypso in London . Tiger, through ABC is trying
to promote Carnival and Calypso on the curriculum in British schools.
Aston Moore, The Mighty Tiger is not only a son of the soil but is a true

D Admiral ( Admiral
Jack) ( Jeffery Hinds )
Born in Barbados and a keen steelbands man, Admiral made his calypso debut
in the late 80s. Admiral considers the Late Lord Kitchener, whom he has
never had the pleasure to meet, as his idol. Admiral considers his trip
to Trinidad in 2000 as his greatest achievement. Admiral's hits include
DJ Man Calling; The Grand Master and I Like It Bad. Admiral Jack's "DJ
Man" available on both of The Association of British Calypsonian "Anniversary"
CD album and "Born in Britain" CD album.
The
Mighty Explorer ( Horace Blake )
Born in St. Vincent , Explorer has been singing calypso for over twenty-five
years and is quite popular with calypso lovers. His catchy renditions
have kept him in the Calypso Monarch finals for numerous years although
he is yet to win the title. However he continues to be a force to be reckoned
with, giving both Tiger and Lord Cloak serious competition over the years.
Some of his compositions are Graveyard Robbery, Jump and Wave, Give Me
Music and You Can Make it If You Try. The Mighty Explorer's "Give Me Music"

Peace
& Love - ( Michael Nanton )
From the Spice island of Grenada , he has been singing
calypso for the past twenty years. He is a colourful, versatile and popular
entertainer, whose antics are infused with youthful energy that keeps
everyone enraptured. His persona is that of his sobriquet as he sings
mostly of peace and love. Some of his songs are Colour of the Rainbow,
Love Peace & Love and Feeling to Jump.
Totally
Talibah - ( Talibah Hawkins )
Born in Jamaica and an established actress and singer, Talibah launched
her career in 1994. Her calypsos can be considered totally hers, as she
also composes for herself and her daughter Yaa Princess. Her compositions
include Oh Gosh Man, Woman Power and Tek Time. Totally Talibah's "Tek
Time" available on the Association of British Calypsonians "Celebration"
CD album.
Alexander
D Great ( Alexander Loewenthal )
A stalwart of the calypso tent this innovative calypsonian has a unique
writing and performance style. Alexander spends much of his time encouraging
and trying to develop the art form and can be found in schools, colleges
and universities. Alexander is known for his propensity to educate the
audience with compositions like Unzip Ah Banana, Panorama Attack and Monsanto's

Lord
Cloak - ( Errol Brown )
With a total of twelve wins under his belt, Trinidad born, Lord Cloak
has won the Calypso Monarch crown the most times in London . Cloak's style
is reminiscent of the notable Trinidad Calypsonian "Lord Blakie". Cloak
is full of wit and humour as he often sings about the injustices done
to calypsonians by the various Carnival Committees and his continuous
reign. Some of his wining songs are Promoters, Give My Name an Ease, The
Judges and Cloak Again.
Helena
B -
The music business is not new to Helena having been in the business
for seven years although mostly as a backing singer. Helena has sung alongside
calypsonians Tallpree and Bunji Garlin and sung back up for various artists
like Sparrow, Singing Sandra and Ronnie McIntosh. Helena is new to the
London Calypso Tent and the Calypso Monarch Competition but is considered
a force to be reckoned with.
